The U.S. Department of Defense has approved the second part of security assistance to Ukraine – a $150 million package which includes counter-artillery radars and counter unmanned aerial systems.

“Today the department is announcing a new $150 million package as part of the Ukraine security assistance initiative to help Ukraine's forces preserve their country's territorial integrity and to improve interoperability with NATO,” Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said at a press briefing on June 11.

The package includes two counter-artillery radars, some counter unmanned aerial systems, and secure communications. “It will complement the $125 million package that we announced back in March,” Kirby noted.

He stressed that the United States would continue to strengthen strategic defense partnership with Ukraine, including through the provision of defensive, lethal assistance.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the American side for the assistance.

“Grateful to the White House for this important contribution to saving lives of our soldiers and strengthening capabilities of the Ukrainian army,” Zelensky posted on Twitter.
