Kuleba invites U.S. to invest in green hydrogen production in Ukraine

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has invited the United States to invest in green hydrogen production in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service has reported.

According to the report, Kuleba had a phone call with a Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur.

The conversation took place in the context of intensifying contacts between the Ukrainian foreign minister and representatives of the Congress to counter common threats to Ukraine and the United States and discuss priorities for the development of strategic partnership.

Kuleba thanked Kaptur for her personal contribution to strengthening bipartisan and bicameral support for Ukraine in the U.S. Congress, as well as promoting important legislative initiatives for Ukraine.

Kaptur stressed that the Congressional Ukraine Caucus was ready to continue, together with other members of the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, to make efforts to deter Russia from its further aggressive actions against the Ukrainian state.

Both parties also discussed opposition to the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project.

A separate topic of their conversation was the development of cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the field of renewable energy sources.

Kuleba recalled that last year the European Union approved a long-term strategy for reforming the energy sector based on a low-carbon economy. "According to our estimates, Ukraine can meet the European market's demand for 'green' energy sources, becoming the largest supplier of hydrogen," he said.

In this context, he invited the U.S. side to invest in hydrogen production in Ukraine and the creation of infrastructure for its transportation to Europe.
