Ukraine, Egypt sign agreement on transfer of sentenced persons

Ukraine and the Arab Republic of Egypt have signed an agreement on the transfer of sentenced persons, which provides for the establishment of a legal mechanism for the possibility of returning them to their country of nationality for further imprisonment.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

In particular, the agreement was signed during a video conference of the Justice Ministries of the two countries on June 1.

The document was signed by Egyptian Justice Minister Omar Marwan in Cairo and by Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denys Maliuska in Kyiv. Ambassador of Ukraine to Egypt Yevhen Mykytenko was present during the signing.

To complete the formal procedures, the signed documents will be sent through diplomatic channels to Kyiv and Cairo, respectively, for submission for ratification to the parliaments of the two countries.

In addition, the sides expressed hope for deepening Ukrainian-Egyptian cooperation in the legal sphere and for this purpose exchanged invitations to visit Ukraine and Egypt.
