Zelensky wants to know how situation with COVID-19 develops this autumn

There is a positive trend in the incidence of COVID-19 in Ukraine, and epidemic indicators reached the level of September 2020, the presidential press service has reported, following a conference call chaired by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to the report, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that all epidemic indicators have actually reached the level of September 2020 - both in terms of the number of occupied beds and the number of active patients, of which there are currently 110,876 people.

According to the President's Office, of 74,675 beds for patients with COVID-19, 14,451, or 19%, are occupied. The number of occupied ventilators (893 out of 6,700) and intensive care beds (30% occupied) also continues to decrease.

"Mass vaccination of people who signed up for vaccination through the Diia app began this weekend in Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa. Vaccination points were organized at sports facilities, stadiums and sports complexes. Nine thousand people were vaccinated on Saturday and more than 6,100 on Sunday. These are the highest rates over the weekend since the start of the vaccination campaign. We will expand this practice from next weekend," Shmyhal said.

At the same time, the head of state ordered that the development of the situation with the incidence of COVID-19 this autumn be analyzed and forecast.

Health Minister Viktor Liashko, in turn, informed the president about plans to vaccinate the population.

It was also noted at the meeting that in pursuance of the president's decree, humanitarian aid (oxygen concentrators and ventilators) was sent to India on May 30.

Some 1,022 new COVID-19 cases and 64 coronavirus-related deaths were registered in Ukraine on May 30.
