Kuleba invites Slovakia to hold meeting of joint intergovernmental commission

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba invited Slovakia to hold the 5th meeting of the Ukrainian-Slovak Joint Commission on Economic, Industrial, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation in the near future.

"We are working hard to make the most of the economic opportunities that exist between our countries… To this end, I have invited the Slovak side to hold the 5th meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic, Industrial, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation in the near future. We are all looking forward to the visit of Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger to Ukraine, and it will be great if this commission summons as part of this visit," Kuleba said at a joint briefing with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ivan Korčok in Bratislava on May 12, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

Kuleba added that together with his Slovak counterpart Korčok and other government officials, he continued to work on the introduction of the joint border and customs control on the Ukrainian-Slovak border.

"We look forward to holding a regular meeting of the Ukrainian-Slovak intergovernmental commission on cross-border cooperation this year," the minister said.

He also pointed out the importance of restoration of full-fledged functioning of the Uzhgorod Airport, as agreed by the presidents of Ukraine and Slovakia. In this context, Kuleba reminded that the other day both sides completed the procedures for the entry into force of the agreement on this airport from June 5.

"I hope that we will be able to sign the implementation protocols to this agreement immediately, and they will launch the airport’s operation," the minister predicted.

As reported, on May 12-13, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba makes a working visit to the Slovak Republic, where he will take part in a meeting of the foreign ministers of Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic Central European Five at the invitation of Ivan Korčok.
