Shmyhal: Partners from US make it clear that Nord Stream 2 poses threat to Europe

"Our partners from the United States have made it very clear that Nord Stream 2 poses a threat to Europe, a threat to Ukraine, and that this project could turn into an energy weapon of the Russian Federation. This is an extremely correct message in support of Ukraine and non-continuation of the construction of Nord Stream 2," Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said on the air of 1+1 TV channel, commenting on the results of the meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Blinken.

According to the Prime Minister, a wide range of issues of bilateral relations and strategic partnership in the political, security, defense, trade, economic, energy, and technological spheres were discussed with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The Ukrainian side, Shmyhal stressed, was once again convinced that the United States would continue to support Ukraine, its territorial integrity, and inviolability.

"Ukraine is one of the foreign policy priorities for the United States. The face-to-face conversation was quite long and fruitful. I am sure that we will all see the results already this year," the Prime Minister added.

As reported, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken made a visit to Kyiv on May 6.
