The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has hosted consultations with the participation of Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhenii Yenin and his Cuban counterpart Anayansi Rodriguez Camejo, with both parties discussing topical issues of cooperation in the political and trade spheres, the ministry's press service has reported.

"Yevhenii Yenin noted Ukraine's interest in developing cooperation with Cuba in the aviation, engineering, energy, pharmaceutical and agricultural sectors. In this regard, the diplomats paid attention to steps to facilitate bilateral trade," the report reads.

The deputy foreign ministers also discussed the prospects for expanding the legal framework between the two countries, including the conclusion of an agreement on promotion and mutual protection of investments and a memorandum between the National Police of Ukraine and the Ministry of the Interior of Cuba in the fight against crime.

A separate topic of the consultations was cooperation between Ukraine and Cuba within international organizations.

Yenin informed the Cuban delegation about the security situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and the massing of Russian troops near Ukraine's borders.

In 2020, the trade between the two countries amounted to $5.83 million. Exports of goods from Ukraine to Cuba stood at $4.69 million and imports amounted to $1.14 million (the trade surplus for Ukraine was $3.54 million).
