Bundestag supports idea of providing Ukraine with lethal weapons – ambassador

Chairman of the German Bundestag’s Foreign Affairs Committee Norbert Röttgen has supported the idea of providing Ukraine with lethal weapons.
Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnyk posted this on his Twitter page.
"For the first time, Norbert Röttgen, an influential German politician, member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Presidium, and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bundestag, supported the idea of providing Ukraine with defensive weapons!" Melnyk wrote.
As reported, on Saturday, April 24, the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine reported that Ukraine had asked Germany to give it weapons to defend its coast amid growing tensions on the border with Russia. However, newspaper sources claim that Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Heiko Maas opposed this.
