Canada and Germany are deeply concerned about Russia’s military build-up in occupied Crimea and along the border with Ukraine.

This was said during a phone call between Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on April 15, according to the press service of PM Trudeau.

"The two leaders shared their deep concern about Russia’s recent military activities in Crimea and along the border with Ukraine. They underlined their commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity," reads the report.

The interlocutors also "discussed common priorities and shared values with respect to relations with China."

In addition, Prime Minister Trudeau and Chancellor Merkel "agreed on the need for ambitious action on climate change."

As Ukrinform reported, the Russian armed forces have recently been building up troops near the state border of Ukraine in the north, east and south, as well as in occupied Crimea. In addition, the number of ceasefire violations by the armed formations of the Russian Federation in eastern Ukraine has increased; there are losses among the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian Federation is conducting a propaganda campaign to justify possible aggression against Ukraine.

On April 6, it also became known that, against the background of a buildup of troops to the Ukrainian border, Russia had begun a control check of the army's combat readiness.
