Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Eva-Maria Liimets has confirmed Estonia's participation in the Crimean Platform summit scheduled for August 23.

She said this at a briefing following the talks between the foreign ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine in Kyiv on Thursday, April 15, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Estonia supports the Crimean Platform, an initiative of Ukraine to intensify the international response to the occupation, and we look forward to participating in the event at the highest level in August this year," Liimets said.

The minister separately assured Ukraine of Estonia's support.

"Estonia will support Ukraine. We continue to cooperate in various fields. For example, decentralization, development of e-services, good governance, provision of additional opportunities for internally displaced persons, as well as in the field of defense and security,” she stressed.

She also emphasized the unanimous support of Ukraine and the united position of all NATO allies.

As Ukrinform reported, the foreign ministers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are on a joint working visit to Ukraine on April 15 at the invitation of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba to demonstrate their solidarity with Ukraine amid Russia's destabilizing actions.

Crimean Platform is a new consultative and coordination format initiated by Ukraine to improve the efficiency of the international response to the occupation of Crimea, respond to growing security challenges, step up international pressure on Russia, prevent further human rights violations, protect victims of the occupying power and to achieve the de-occupation of Crimea and its return to Ukraine.

Ukraine is actively inviting world countries to take part in the Crimean Platform activities.

The Crimean Platform is to be launched officially at an inaugural summit in Kyiv on August 23, 2021.
