Zelensky holds phone call with King of Jordan

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held a telephone conversation with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the presidential press service has reported.

According to the report, Zelensky assured King Abdullah II of his support for his policy of ensuring the stability and security of Jordan.

The King thanked the President of Ukraine for his support and solidarity, noting the readiness to continue the comprehensive development of relations between Ukraine and Jordan. He also expressed support on the road to peace in the Donbas.

Both parties discussed a wide range of issues on the agenda of bilateral relations. They emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation, in particular in the trade and economic sphere, food security and in the context of counteracting the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Ukraine is ready to ensure Jordan's food security. We have already stated that we are ready to become a guarantor of global food security. We are ready to consider the possibility of using your country to export domestic goods to the countries of the region," Zelensky said.

Both parties also discussed the fight against the pandemic and ways to overcome COVID-19.

"The difficult stage of the coronavirus pandemic requires the concerted efforts of all countries in the world to overcome its consequences and restore cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. Ukraine and Jordan are in an active dialogue and are searching for new forms of cooperation," Zelensky said.

Zelensky congratulated King Abdullah II on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan for all Muslims and invited him to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.

King Abdullah II stressed that he was looking forward to meeting with the President of Ukraine.
