Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has proposed appointing a new head of Kyiv City State Administration if the incumbent Kyiv mayor, Vitali Klitschko, who also heads Kyiv City State Administration, believes he lacks the authority to effectively counter COVID-19 in the city.

Shmyhal wrote this on his Facebook page, according to Ukrinform.

Earlier on Friday, Klitschko called on the government to immediately consider introducing a nationwide lockdown.

"I am calling upon the government to immediately consider introducing a nationwide lockdown. A true lockdown. Movement between regions of the country should be limited, with control over compliance with strict rules," Klitschko said.
