Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak and International Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Quarrey discussed the security situation in eastern Ukraine.

The communication took place via videoconferencing within the framework of a working meeting of Ukrainian and British diplomats coordinated by the head of the President’s Office, Ukrinform reports with reference to the press service of the head of state.

"Andriy Yermak and David Quarrey noted a fruitful and important conversation between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson on April 5, during which the British Prime Minister underscored his support for Ukraine and expressed serious concern over the aggravation of the situation in Donbas," the report reads.

The interlocutors also discussed opportunities for more active involvement of the OSCE mechanisms to resolve the situation in Donbas.

The British side stressed the importance of providing truthful information about the situation in eastern Ukraine. In this regard, Yermak reminded that on April 6, the Center for Countering Disinformation established in Ukraine was presented and its head was introduced.

"Disinformation is a really serious challenge of our time. It is very important for us to convey the position of Ukraine and truthful information," the head of the President’s Office said.

As Ukrinform reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson during his official visit to the State of Qatar on April 5. The Ukrainian president informed the UK prime minister about the aggravation of the situation in eastern Ukraine, the build-up of the Russian military contingent near the Ukrainian-Russian border, and Russia's attempts to disrupt the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
