Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevheniy Yenin discussed with Special U.S. Envoy for Iran Robert Malley the situation around the final technical report on the causes of the UIA plane crash in January 2020.

"I have just discussed the current situation around the recently published final technical report on the downing of PS752 Flight in the sky over Tehran on January 8, 2020, with Special U.S. Envoy for Iran Robert Malley. I emphasized that the document is absolutely biased and inconsistent with the Chicago Convention requirements," Yenin posted on Facebook.

According to him, it is not only a matter of disrespect for the memory of the victims, but also of a high risk of recurrence of similar incidents in the airspace of Iran and other countries.

"My U.S. colleague expressed full support for Ukraine regarding the need to establish justice and truth in the PS752 Flight case. We agreed on our further steps in this area," the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine noted.

On March 17, Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization released the final report on the UIA plane crash. The document states that the plane was shot down due to a mistake by the air defence operator, which identified the plane as a “hostile target”.

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba called Iran's report an attempt to hide the real causes of the UIA plane crash. Deputy Foreign Minister Yevheniy Yenin said that Ukraine would demand that the ICAO Council consider Iran's report on the UIA plane crash and that the Iranian side resume and continue the technical investigation.

On January 8, 2020, Ukraine International Airlines plane (Flight PS752) heading from Tehran to Kyiv crashed shortly after taking off from the Imam Khomeini International Airport. There were 176 people on board – nine crew members (all Ukrainians) and 167 passengers (citizens of Ukraine, Iran, Canada, Sweden, Afghanistan, Germany, and the UK).

On January 11, Iran admitted that its military had accidentally shot down the Ukrainian passenger jet. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) accepted full responsibility for the downing of the Ukrainian airliner.

On February 20, Iran announced the completion of the investigation into this case.
