An interfactional union will be soon created in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to promote the European Green Deal in the Ukrainian agricultural sector, Minister for Agrarian Policy and Food Roman Leshchenko has said.

“An interfactional union will be soon established in the Parliament to support the agricultural sector, which may and will be the locomotive [of the green course],” the minister said during the round table meeting " Ukrainian agricultural sector in the context of the European Green Deal: challenges and opportunities,” which was broadcast live on Facebook.

According to him, the ministry will develop a package of bills on the "green course" in the agricultural sector. At the same time, he supports the idea of holding parliamentary hearings on this issue.

"We are ready to work out a package of bills on the green course, to hold parliamentary hearings. If we manage to agree to put these bills on the agenda for a plenary week, you can count on my support in this matter as a minister and the support of all deputies from the agricultural sector," he said.

Among the speakers of the event were representatives of relevant ministries of Ukraine, Trade Representative of Ukraine, heads of business associations, public unions, MPs of Ukraine, representatives of leading agricultural companies and others.
