Yermak holds first extended meeting with G20 ambassadors
"From now on, consultations in an extended format will be held regularly," the press service of the President's Office reported.
Yermak told diplomats about the situation in Donbas. According to him, within a few months after the introduction of the ceasefire regime, this was a very great achievement, because the lives of many Ukrainian soldiers were saved. But recently, the ceasefire is increasingly violated by the enemy, which is why Ukraine is losing its fighters.
In this regard, the head of the President's Office emphasized the importance of observing the ceasefire as a fundamental condition for progress in negotiations in the Normandy and Minsk formats.
"For this, additional measures will be discussed to strengthen control over the ceasefire, in particular within the working security group of the Trilateral Contact Group," he noted.
Yermak thanked Ukraine's partners in the Normandy Four - France and Germany - for their proposals and efforts to achieve peace in Donbas. He said that in the near future a video conference of advisers to the leaders of the Normandy format countries will be held, at which the settlement of the conflict will be discussed.
Deputy Head of the President's Office Roman Mashovets told the diplomats about the operational situation in Donbas.
During the meeting, the head of the President's Office also informed the ambassadors about the holding of the Crimean Platform summit, initiated by President Volodymyr Zelensky, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. He expressed hope for the presence of a large number of partners and friends of Ukraine at this important event.
Deputy Head of the President's Office Ihor Zhovkva added that the Crimean Platform, to which the leaders of the G20 countries have been invited, is primarily a tool for returning the issue of Crimea to the international agenda.
“President Volodymyr Zelensky wants to talk about specific tools for the de-occupation of Crimea and the protection of the rights of people living on the peninsula. Ukraine wants to present a working tool, and we are very actively working on the development of this tool around the clock,” Zhovkva said.
According to Yermak, the president's team expects to expand the diplomatic, political and economic horizons of interaction with the G20 countries. He proposed to consider the possibilities and new options for Ukraine's participation in regional formats for greater integration with neighboring European states and establishing work with the Black Sea neighbors at the highest level.
