Ukraine will open three new embassies and three consulates general in six countries this year, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.

He said this during an online briefing on Friday, March 5, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The minister thanked the president for supporting the Foreign Ministry's proposals to open new diplomatic missions of Ukraine abroad.

“Ukraine has already begun work on opening new embassies and consulates in the world. Ukraine’s Embassy in the Republic of Ghana will be created - this corresponds to the course of strengthening our positions in Africa; Ukraine’s Embassy in the Republic of the Philippines – a very difficult country, we need to work with it to make it more supportive of Ukrainian initiatives in international organizations, primarily in the UN... Ukraine’s Embassy in Chile will be transformed into a full-fledged embassy - now it is a branch of another embassy,” Kuleba said.

He also noted that the Consulate General of Ukraine will open in the Indian city of Mumbai, which is a big business, as well as in the Polish city of Wroclaw and in the Romanian city of Sighetu-Marmatiei, which is the "capital" of Ukrainian heritage in this country.

“These new missions are new additional opportunities to protect the interests of the Ukrainian state, Ukraine, Ukrainian business and Ukrainian citizens. I promise that these embassies and consulates will be quickly created, and we will appoint professional people there," the minister assured.
