The Verkhovna Rada has adopted law No. 4051 introducing amendments to certain legislative acts to improve the legal regulation of remote work.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, 322 lawmakers voted for a respective decision at a parliament meeting on Thursday, February 4.

"The bill is designed to improve legal relations in the field of regulation of remote work and work from home," the explanatory note to the bill reads.

The main provisions of the law include the introduction of two independent types of work - remote work and work from home.

The approved document provides for the right of the employer, when concluding an employment contract for remote work or work from home, to receive information about the employee's place of residence or another place of choice where the job will be performed.

The law provides for the possibility of acquainting the employee with the rules of internal labor regulations, collective agreement, local regulations of the employer, notifications and other documents with which the employee must be acquainted in writing, by exchanging electronic documents.

The document also envisages the possibility of the remote acquaintance of the employee with the requirements for labor protection through the use of modern information and communication technologies, including video communication.

The law foresees the employee's ability to combine remote work with usual work at workplaces on the premises or on the territory of the employer. It also imposes on the owner or his authorized body the obligation to ensure safe and harmless working conditions at workplaces on the territory and premises of the owner.

It is expected that improving the legal regulation of remote work and work from home will lead to a positive socio-economic effect through the creation of legislative incentives to transfer a large number of employees from work under civil contracts to full-fledged labor contracts with employers.
