President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen discussed with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky assistance in the fight against coronavirus.

“Always good to speak with President Zelensky. EU wants to help Ukraine fight COVID-19, in particular until vaccines are available via COVAX,” she wrote on her Twitter account.

Ursula von der Leyen also reiterated firm support for the reform agenda in Ukraine, noting that the judiciary and anti-corruption efforts are very important.

In early January, the European Commission received a letter from 13 EU countries with a request to speed up the provision of assistance in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic to the Eastern Partnership countries, namely Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus.
