During a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna, the G7 Ambassadors emphasised the importance of security sector reform in line with international standards.

“G7 Ambassadors met with Olha Stefanisyna for a broad, positive discussion on Ukraine’s 2021 reform plans. Among them, G7 emphasised the importance of security sector reform in line with international standards and welcomed President Zelensky’s call for respect of international obligations in public procurement legislation,” reads the statement of the UK’s Presidency of the G7 Ambassadors’ Support Group in Ukraine posted on its Twitter account.

As reported, in his letters to the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and the Prime Minister, President Volodymyr Zelensky underscored the need to comply with Ukraine’s international obligations when amending the legislation in the field of public procurement. The President noted that initiatives are currently being proposed to remove the regulation of procurement of goods and services in various areas from the law on public procurement in general or from its certain provisions.
