Ukraine's position on Transnistria remains unchanged, President Volodymyr Zelensky assured in a statement following the signing of bilateral documents with President of Moldova Maia Sandu in Kyiv on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The event was held without the participation of the media outlets; it was broadcast live on the Facebook page of the head of the Ukrainian state.

“Today we discussed the situation in the Transnistrian region of Moldova and exchanged views on our further steps regarding Transnistria, in particular taking into account the mediating role of Ukraine in the 5+2 format. I would like to emphasize once again that Ukraine's position regarding the Transnistrian settlement remains unchanged – we firmly support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders,” Zelensky stressed.

President of Moldova Maia Sandu is on her first official visit to Ukraine on January 12, 2021.
