
Merkel, Putin discuss Ukraine, coronavirus vaccine in phone call

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the process of Minsk agreements and talks in the Normandy format, and also outlined the prospects for joint work on a COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the Kremlin website, the two leaders had a phone conversation on Tuesday, January 5.
During the call, Merkel and Putin discussed Ukraine in the context of the implementation of the Minsk package of measures, as well as the agreements reached at the Normandy Format summits.
The leaders of the two countries also touched upon the issue of combating the coronavirus pandemic, in particular, focusing on the possibilities of cooperation in joint vaccine production.
As Ukrinform reported, Angela Merkel said earlier that Germany is pursuing a consistent policy towards Russia and is building bilateral relations taking into account objective realities.
