Ukraine sees renewal of Association Agreement with EU as important task for 2021
He wrote this in an article for the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia (Mirror Weekly) newspaper.
"The most important tasks in relations with the EU for 2021 include the launch of consultations on the renewal of the Association Agreement, as well as the signing of a common aviation area agreement in early 2021," he said.
He added that at the end of the first quarter of 2021, an expert mission from the European Commission will be able to provide its conclusions on Ukraine's readiness to conclude an Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products, and Ukraine will begin to implement the relevant recommendations.
According to him, in 2021 it is also a priority to start a substantive dialogue with the EU on Ukraine's involvement in the implementation of the European Green Deal.
In the field of relations with NATO, Zhovkva said it was necessary to make the most of the status of Ukraine's enhanced opportunities partner so as to bring the country closer to its membership in the Alliance.
"We are waiting for the reaction of our partners to the relevant proposals made by the President to the NATO Secretary General. We will make every effort to ensure a full-fledged meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission is held at a high level in 2021," Zhovkva said.
He also added that the key task in 2021 is to ensure Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic goals are taken into account in the decisions of NATO leaders at the next NATO summit.
