Ukraine looking for ‘appropriate form’ to invite Russia to participate in Crimean Platform
"We will definitely invite Russia [to participate in the Crimean Platform]. We have already announced this. We are looking for an appropriate invitation form. We believe that this country should be the first to participate in such formats because this country occupied Crimea and is fully responsible for the situation in Crimea, in particular for the protected population, who are 2.5 million Ukrainian citizens," First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzheppar said, the Crimea.Realities portal reports.
Earlier, Dzheppar stressed that "uncivilized behavior of the Russian Federation is not a secret for Ukrainian diplomats and they do not expect the invitation to be accepted."
On September 23, President Zelensky presented the concept of the Crimean Platform to the UN and invited international partners to join the initiative for the de-occupation of Crimea. During the EU-Ukraine Summit on October 6, the European Union reaffirmed its readiness to participate in the initiative. Ukraine is currently coordinating this issue at the level of the governments of the EU Member States.
The Crimean Platform Summit is scheduled to be held in Kyiv in May 2021.
