The North Atlantic Alliance is providing concrete assistance to both its members and partner countries in the fight against coronavirus.

Examples of such assistance were cited by NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Carmen Romero at the Lviv Security Forum 2020, which was held as an online expert marathon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to Romero, the Alliance is helping by providing critical assistance, transporting medical personnel and supplies, building hospitals and the like. Since the end of October, several countries have received assistance from NATO, including Albania, Czech Republic, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Moldova, and Tunisia. The issue of providing support to Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina is being considered, she said.

Romero noted that preparations for a second wave of coronavirus began back in June, when a plan to help partner countries was developed. Stocks of necessary materials and equipment were made, in particular, ventilators were provided by the United States and Hungary, protective materials - by Germany, money came from different countries.

As reported, Lviv Security Forum is held for the fourth time.
