PM Shmyhal: Every Ukrainian to have access to e-declarations of officials
He stated this at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on October 29, Ukrinform reports.
"E-declaration is a way towards transparency and honesty of officials. Today [October 29], the Cabinet of Ministers, on the initiative of the President of Ukraine, approves a decision that will be a step towards the resumption of full-fledged work of the register of declarations. Every Ukrainian citizen will have a chance to enter the website again and see declarations of officials and politicians,” said Shmyhal.
He noted that Ukrainians would also have access to the declarations of those politicians “who are trying to destroy anti-corruption reform”.
As reported, on October 27, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine declared unconstitutional Article 366-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine that provides for punishment for inaccurate declaration of assets.
On October 28, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) closed access to the unified state register of asset declarations in pursuance of a ruling of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. The NACP stated that Constitutional Court judges had made this decision in their own
On October 29, President Volodymyr Zelensky convened an extraordinary closed meeting of the NSDC to determine measures for the immediate proper response of the state to new threats and challenges to national security and defense.
