Razumkov: Inter-parliamentary cooperation to help Ukraine and Germany achieve ambitious goals

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov made a corresponding statement in a conversation with Ukrainian journalists before the start of the working program of his visit to Germany, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The Speaker underscored the importance of the visit, the first visit of the Ukrainian parliament chairperson over the past five years.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, about ten meetings are planned within the framework of the visit.

As Razumkov noted, there are many issues on the agenda of the visit, the main of which is the support that Germany has provided for many years, especially after 2014.

Razumkov pointed out that no decision could be made in both countries without its approval by the parliaments, so "building a stable, good, professional, and personal relationship between the highest legislative bodies will help achieve ambitious goals facing both Ukraine and Germany."

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada also drew attention to the high level of economic relations: Ukraine's trade turnover with Germany is the largest in comparison with other EU countries, accounting for more than 17 percent. But there is an opportunity to improve indicators and it should be done at all levels - parliamentary, presidential and governmental, Razumkov stressed.

The visit of the delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to Berlin, the first since 2015, takes place on October 29-30.
