The situation in the occupied Crimea has become a key issue discussed at the meeting between First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzheppar and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in Ankara.

"I told [the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey] in detail about the current situation in Crimea, the living conditions of 2.5 million Ukrainian citizens. This is a real hostage regime and there is no freedom. I also told about the persecution of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, especially in the context of receiving the Tomos [of Autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine]," Emine Dzheppar said in a commentary to Ukrinform.

Moreover, various elements of bilateral and multilateral cooperation within international organizations and creation of the Crimean Platform were discussed at the meeting in Ankara.

"Yes, Crimea was in the focus of attention. I outlined the details of how we see the work of the Crimean Platform, to which we are now inviting countries. We hope that Turkey will join this platform," the first deputy minister said.

Following the meeting, Dzheppar posted on Twitter: "Turkey is a strategic partner that supports us with concrete actions, condemns the occupation of Crimea, and is ready to stand by Ukraine and our initiatives."
