UN Secretary-General calls for progress in talks within TCG, Normandy Four format
UN Secretary-General António Guterres said this at the opening of the general debate of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"In Ukraine, the most recent ceasefire regime remains in place, but progress on the outstanding security and political issues under the Trilateral Contact Group and the Normandy Four format to implement the Minsk agreements will be critical," Guterres said.
As Ukrinform reported, the last meeting of advisers to the leaders of the Normandy format countries took place in Berlin on September 11. Last week, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope that the next meeting of the Normandy Four leaders' advisers will take place within 10 days, after which a Normandy Four summit will become possible.
A complete and comprehensive ceasefire in Donbas was established on July 27, 2020. At the same time, on September 6, the armed formations of the Russian Federation opened aimed fire from small arms at Ukrainian positions near Prychepylivka in Luhansk region. As a result of the shelling, one Ukrainian serviceman was killed.
