Elections in ORDLO possible after complete de-occupation of Donbas – Yermak
Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak said this on the air of the TV program "Freedom of Speech of Savik Shuster" on Friday evening, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"At present, the holding of elections in non-government-controlled territories is possible only after their complete de-occupation and when everything is done there to resolve security issues," he said.
At the same time, Yermak noted that only the Verkhovna Rada can make a decision on a possible amendment to the parliamentary decree on local elections in Ukraine on October 25, which Russia demands.
"I believe that the decision should be made in accordance with the interests of our state, the obligations that we have today, and the norms of international law. What it will be – it will be decided by the Verkhovna Rada," the head of the President’s Office said.
