Coordinating the actions of Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania to effectively counter the challenges and threats to common security should be one of the main tasks of the Lublin Triangle.

The topic was discussed during the first meeting (via videoconferencing) of the national coordinators of the Lublin Triangle format, created by the foreign ministers of Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania in July this year, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine informs.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Marcin Przydacz, and Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Dalius Čekuolis were appointed as coordinators of the trilateral cooperation mechanism.

“The national coordinators have identified the main activities of the Lublin Triangle and agreed to ensure sustainable interaction of the format at different working levels. During the meeting, they agreed on the basic principles of the Lublin Triangle activity and outlined plans for cooperation in the near future,” the Ministry reports.

As noted, coordinating the actions of the three states to effectively address the current challenges and threats to common security should be one of the main tasks.

According to Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry, joint counteraction to hybrid threats posed by Russia, in particular in the fight against misinformation, is among the priority cooperation issues.

In addition, the national coordinators underscored the importance of maintaining close cooperation within international organizations.

"We share not only common values and interests but also a common responsibility for the future of our countries and the region in which we live and which has been at the centre of global politics in recent years," Bodnar said.

The parties also discussed preparations for the next meeting of the foreign ministers of the Lublin Triangle, which is to take place in Kyiv on the initiative of Minister Kuleba.

The deputy ministers also agreed to launch trilateral thematic consultations at the level of directors of foreign ministries’ departments.

At the same time, the coordinators discussed the situation in Belarus and some other countries in the region.

Bodnar thanked the partners for their continued support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty and support in countering Russian aggression. In addition, the Ukrainian deputy foreign minister informed his colleagues about the main goals of the Crimean Platform and invited Poland and Lithuania to actively cooperate within the platform aimed at the de-occupation of Crimea.

As reported, the Lublin Triangle was founded by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Jacek Czaputowicz, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius in Lublin on July 28.
