Kravchuk agrees to head Ukrainian delegation to TCG

Ukrinform
The first president of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, has agreed to head a Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group for the peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas.

“I have made a decision. If I can - and I want to - do something to speed up peace in Donbas, I will do it to the last breath. That's why I agreed," Kravchuk said in a video address.

He said that he was thinking about joining the TCG, and made a positive decision, realizing that Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence are being defended in Donbas.

Kravchuk noted that thanks to the persistence and political will of President Volodymyr Zelensky it became possible to hold a meeting of the Normandy Four leaders in Paris in December last year. According to Kravchuk, President Zelensky "has revived the Normandy Four" and is not afraid to make unpopular decisions.

As Ukrinform reported, on July 28, Ukraine's second president Leonid Kuchma announced he is leaving his job at the TCG. Kuchma headed the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group twice.
