The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft presidential decree on Ukraine's withdrawal from the agreement on humanitarian cooperation of the CIS member states and the agreement on the Council for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS member states.

The government made a respective decision at a government meeting on Wednesday, July 22, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, actual cooperation with Russia has been suspended, whereas cooperation with other CIS member states is taking place in a bilateral format on the basis of new and/or existing bilateral agreements," the explanatory note reads.

It also says that the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine analyzed within its competence the current international agreements within the CIS regarding their compliance with national interests and considers it inappropriate further participation of Ukraine in the agreement on humanitarian cooperation of the CIS member states and the agreement on the Council for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS member states.

The document was drafted in pursuance of Ukrainian presidential decree No. 139 of May 19, 2018 "On the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of May 2, 2018 'On the termination for Ukraine of certain international agreements concluded within the Commonwealth of Independent States'," which was approved at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on June 6, 2018.

The decree will come into force once it is signed by the president of Ukraine.
