Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov has signed amendments to the law on Ukraine's state budget for 2020 to increase the reserve fund of the state budget to overcome the effects of floods in western Ukraine.

The relevant information has been posted on the parliament’s website.

In particular, the law provides for an increase of UAH 2 billion in the reserve fund of the state budget in order to provide funding for measures to tackle the negative effects of the June floods in the western regions of Ukraine and prevent other emergencies.

According to the explanatory note to the bill, the Ministry for Environmental Protection and Natural Resources and the Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Chernivtsi regional state administrations have stated that they need an additional for UAH 1.4 billion in funds to repair the facilities damaged by the June floods and the provision of assistance to the affected population.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Verkhovna Rada fully adopted the Law "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine ‘On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2020” (bill No.3776) with the necessary technical and legal amendments at an extraordinary meeting on July 3.

Heavy rains between June 22-24 caused floods in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Lviv, and Ternopil regions. Three people were killed in floods and one more went missing. Hundreds of kilometers of roads, dozens of bridges were destroyed, and hundreds of people were resettled.
