The Cabinet of Ministers has terminated a memorandum between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on counterterrorism cooperation.

The resolution to terminate the memorandum was approved by members of the government without discussion on Wednesday, July 8, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“To terminate the Memorandum between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in fight against terrorism, signed in Yalta on July 12, 2012. The Foreign Ministry must inform the Russian side about the termination of the Memorandum,” reads the document.

According to an explanatory note, in view of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, the promotion of separatism and terrorism in the eastern regions of Ukraine, there is a need to update the bilateral legal framework with the Russian Federation to the modern realities of the current relations with Russia.
