Kuleba: Issue of Crimea in ‘Minsk format’ may block negotiations on Donbas

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba believes that the issue of de-occupation of Crimea should be considered separately from the "Minsk talks" on Donbas.

"To introduce the issue of Crimea to the Minsk format means really to block both [the issues of] Crimea and Donbas. We need to proceed from the realities that exist now. And I assure you that we constantly work at all levels – in the Foreign Ministry and the President's Office – to ensure that the issue of Crimea remains on the agenda among the priorities," Kuleba said in an exclusive interview with the Crimea.Realities portal.

The minister states that Ukraine has "revived the active topic of Crimea in international negotiations."

"And we promote it proactively, we get in touch with our partners. That is, we already warm them up for the next steps," Kuleba added.

As reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine prepares a strategy for the de-occupation of Crimea. So far, there is only a draft plan that will be later expanded and supplemented by initiatives from the National Security and Defense Council, the Government, and the Office of the President.

Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov noted that the Ukrainian authorities wanted to create an international platform for negotiations on the de-occupation of Crimea but he cannot say when it would appear and in what format.
