Russia’s unauthorized construction and continued use of the Kerch Strait Bridge reminds us daily of Russia’s unlawful seizure and occupation of Crimea, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine has stated.

"Russia’s unauthorized construction and continued use of the Kerch Strait bridge, impeding navigation in the Strait, reminds us daily of Russia’s unlawful seizure and occupation of Crimea. Another reason to maintain strong sanctions,” the embassy wrote on Twitter on July 2.

As a reminder, on May 15, 2018, Russia opened vehicle traffic on the Kerch Bridge. On December 23, 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched railway traffic across the Kerch Strait.
