German partners welcomed the reformatting of the Trilateral Contact Group for the Peaceful Settlement of the Situation in Donetsk and Luhansk Regions.

"The reformatting of the Trilateral Contact Group is very important for us as we say that Ukraine should dominate these negotiations. Berlin supports reformatting," Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak told an Ukrinform correspondent while speaking to Ukrainian journalists in Berlin on June 2, summing up the results of a one-day working visit.

He reminded that the President had recently signed a decree raising the level of representation of the Ukrainian delegation in the TCG: now the second in command is Vice Prime Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, Ukrainian deputy ministers and heads of relevant parliamentary committees now work in all working groups.

The issue of creation of the Consultative Council was not raised during the talks with German colleagues.

According to Yermak, the Ukrainian delegation was assured of unequivocal support at all meetings.

In particular, German Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer said that normalization of relations with Russia is possible for her and for Germany only after all the issues of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are resolved.

As reported, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak visited Berlin on June 2 as part of the Ukrainian delegation.
