Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the ambassadors of the G7 countries have discussed the situation with the fight against coronavirus, economic and medical reforms, as well as cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

From the Ukrainian side, the meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Vadym Prystaiko, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov and acting Minister for Energy and Environmental Protection Olha Buslavets, the government's press service reported.

"The participants in the meeting discussed the situation with overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic, the program for economic stimulation approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to overcome the consequences of the coronavirus epidemic, medical reform in Ukraine, Ukraine's cooperation with the IMF, and other topical issues," the report said.

Shmyhal, in particular, noted that on the agenda were reforms that will give impetus and facilitate economic development.

"These are customs reform and the reform of small and micro business taxation. We also need to do what we call a 'regulatory guillotine' – the reform of deregulation so as to facilitate the work of small businesses," he said.

Speaking about the financial or industrial support of large industrial enterprises with a large share of state ownership, Shmyhal stressed that the idea is to use this as a "tool for warming up" the economy and industrial development.

"We intend to increase funding and orders in the industrial and defense sectors this year in order to save jobs and enable related businesses to operate. This is part of our grand plan on emergence from the economic crisis," he said.

Shmyhal thanked all donors and all G7 countries for their support and assistance in the implementation of decentralization reform, recalling that the formation of long-term plans for the formation of community areas for all regions was completed at a government meeting on May 27.
