EU Council extends mandate of head of mission for EUAM Ukraine

The Council of the European Union has decided to extend the mandates of four Heads of Common Security and Defence Policy civilian Missions in Ukraine, Kosovo, Libya, and Palestine.

“The Council today [May 14] decided to extend the mandates of four Heads of Common Security and Defence Policy civilian Missions, following a proposal by the High Representative and the endorsement of the Political and Security Committee,” reads the statement posted on the website of the European Council.

In particular, the mandate of Antti Hartikainen, Head of Mission of EUAM Ukraine, will last until June 30, 2021.

The EU Advisory Mission in Ukraine started its operations in December 2014 with the aim of assisting the Ukrainian authorities towards a sustainable reform of the civilian security sector.
