Local elections in Ukraine will be held on October 25, 2020, as provided for in the Constitution of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers' representative in the Verkhovna Rada and Servant of the People Party MP, Vasyl Mokan, has said on Facebook.

"Regarding local elections. The elections will take place within the timeframe set by the Constitution of Ukraine, on October 25 this year," he wrote.

Mokan noted that due to the formation of the fund to combat coronavirus, funding for local elections has been partially optimized, but "there are assurances and promises from the prime minister that full funding for democratic local elections will be provided."

He added that changes to the election legislation are being prepared, but they will be technical in order to improve the election process.

First Deputy Head of the President's Office Serhiy Trofimov said earlier that local elections in Ukraine would be held this autumn if all goes well with the fight against the spread of the coronavirus.
