Ukraine, US to counter Russian attempts to use pandemic for easing sanctions

This issue was discussed at a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhenii Yenin and U.S. Charge d'Affaires in Ukraine Kristina Kvien, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine informs.

"The parties agreed that despite the existing challenges faced by the international community, it is necessary to jointly counter Russia's attempts to use the situation to weaken the sanctions imposed on it over the violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine," the statement reads.

Yenin thanked the US for its assistance in the context of counteracting the coronavirus pandemic and underscored effective cooperation in the return of Ukrainian and US citizens.

During the meeting, the topical issues of the US-Ukraine cooperation development were discussed, including maintaining political dialogue and practical interaction in key areas of cooperation.
