The Republic of Korea has allocated $700,000 to Ukraine for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

"The funds will be spent to purchase Korean laboratory tests and support within UN humanitarian response,” reads the statement.

According to the Foreign Ministry, assistance will be provided in two directions. In particular, $300,000 will be transferred in the form of a batch of Korean laboratory tests or the purchase of such tests.

“This is not a loan but humanitarian aid. Korea will transfer $400,000 to the United Nations, to Ukraine Humanitarian Fund,” said Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

He thanked Korean partners for such important assistance to Ukraine, noting that these funds would greatly enhance Ukraine's ability to resist the coronavirus.

As of 9:00 on April 21, Ukraine had 6,125 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 161 lethal cases and 367 recoveries.
