On April 20, 2020, Ukraine takes over from Turkey the Chairmanship of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation. Ukraine will be the first to chair the Forum online, taking into account the situation associated with the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

This is said in a comment by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on the beginning of Ukraine's Chairmanship of the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation.

“Ukraine’s Chairmanship will focus on restoring full and faithful implementation of OSCE fundamental principles and norms of international law, the importance of further joint work on improving the political and military toolbox of the OSCE in light of new challenges and threats and rapid technological development in the military sector,” reads the comment.

Priority issues for consideration at the Forum plenary sessions will include modern challenges to regional and international security, primarily hybrid threats, militarization and impediment to navigation in the Azov and Black Sea region, and a number of other issues within the framework of the Forum’s mandate, in particular, small arms and light weapons, and the implementation of the UNSC resolutions 1540 (nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction) and 1325 (role of women in peace and security).
