President signs amendments to state budget to combat coronavirus

President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed the Law "On Amending the Law of Ukraine "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2020", which the Verkhovna Rada approved at an extraordinary plenary meeting on April 13.

"Amendments to the state budget for 2020 have been made in order to optimize costs in accordance with external and internal challenges associated with coronavirus disease and the global economic crisis," the press service of the head of state reports.

According to the document, UAH 64.7 billion is envisaged in the budget to combat the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). These funds will be spent on the top-priority areas to combat the spread of COVID-19.

In addition, the state budget additionally provides UAH 15.8 billion for wage supplements of healthcare workers who confront the epidemic. In total, the expenses of the Health Ministry will increase by UAH 16.4 billion.
