Germany supports Ukraine in need to extend sanctions against Russia

Germany supports Ukraine in the issue of the need to extend sanctions against Russia until the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity.

“We are at Ukraine's side in the EU concerning the sanctions against Russia. We really struggle for the EU to continue to keep these sanctions in place. We also think that they are important and necessary as the situation in Donbas and in Crimea, unfortunately, has not changed,” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen said during online discussion at the Kyiv Security Forum "New reality: how to protect our home from war, disease and devastation?"

Ukraine is a special partner for Germany, the ambassador assured.

“Even if we sometimes criticize you, this is our constructive criticism. We remain your partners and your friends. Our Chancellor is a great friend of Ukraine, and this is one of the reasons why we work so closely [with Ukraine],” the diplomat emphasized.
