Government creates Economic Development Council

The decision was approved at a government meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“The task of this agency will be developing mechanisms for resolving problematic issues in the economic sphere and creating favorable conditions for its development,” said Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

According to an explanatory note to the document, the council will be a consultative and advisory body under the Cabinet of Ministers. It will develop proposals and certain procedures for implementing the state policy on economic development and the implementation of the sustainable development goals of Ukraine, creating conditions for ensuring the competitiveness of Ukrainian producers and enterprises, protecting the health and welfare of citizens.

The prime minister of Ukraine will head the council.
