Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Takashi Kurai agreed to develop cooperation in the field of cybersecurity between the two countries, the Foreign Ministry's press service reports following their meeting as part of a Week of Asia.

“The interlocutors noted mutual interest in developing cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and in continuing a security dialogue with emphasis on countering hybrid threats,” the report reads.

Kuleba praised Japan’s significant experience in containing the spread of COVID-19 and expressed hope for fruitful cooperation in the fight against coronavirus.

The interlocutors paid special attention to the attempts of some countries to use the pandemic for political purposes, when they call for easing of sanctions, as if for humanitarian reasons, which have nothing to do with countering COVID-19.

Kuleba thanked the Japanese ambassador for the consistent support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, economic assistance in carrying out reforms and restoring eastern Ukraine.
