Kuleba enlists support of Canada in IMF
Kuleba informed his Canadian counterpart about the adoption in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the laws necessary for further cooperation of Ukraine with the International Monetary Fund. He asked his Canadian colleague for support of Ukraine in this international financial institution. François-Philippe Champagne commended Ukraine’s legislative progress towards further cooperation with the IMF and assured of Canada’s support.
The interlocutors also shared their experience of protecting citizens abroad during the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, Kuleba reported on the Foreign Ministry’s program for the protection and assistance to its citizens abroad.
The ministers also coordinated further steps to investigate the circumstances of a UIA aircraft crash in Iran.
In addition, the parties discussed security cooperation, in particular, in the context of countering the ongoing aggression of the Russian Federation. Kuleba drew attention to Russia's attempts to ease sanctions for the “humanitarian reasons” of the fight against COVID-19 and stressed the need to maintain sanctions against the Russian Federation.
