The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry will actively work with Asian countries this week to preserve and, if possible, expand their markets for Ukrainian goods, according to Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

He said this during an online briefing on Monday, March 30, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"This week was a week of Asia at the Foreign Ministry. We will actively work with Asian countries. I will have phone conversations with my colleagues. We must never forget that Ukraine's interests lie not only in the west but also in the far east of our border," Kuleba said.

He added that Ukrainian diplomats would talk with Asian partners not only about purchasing goods to combat the spread of coronavirus or delivering humanitarian aid but also about supporting trade and Ukrainian exporters.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, within our powers, will give exporters the utmost assistance to ensure that they do not lose their positions in foreign markets and, where possible, even multiply them despite the unfolding crisis. We see the pandemic not only as a challenge but also as an opportunity to enter new markets. I want to assure Ukrainian exporters that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be a reliable partner for them," Kuleba said.

On March 29, Ukraine received 33,000 special suits and 250,000 respirators from China for doctors receiving patients with coronavirus. The next batch of protective masks, medical protective clothing, equipment, and testing systems is to be sent to Ukraine on March 31.
